She learned music from her parents and later trained in classical music from Pandit Raghunath Prasanna. She completed her graduation from Home Science College, Jabalpur, and also holds a diploma in Indian classical music.
Career:
Shahnaz Akhtar started her career as a folk singer and performed at various local events and shows. In 1993, she got her first break in the music industry with the album “Bahut Yaad Aaye” which became an instant hit. She then released several albums and became a popular folk singer in Madhya Pradesh.
In 2002, Shahnaz Akhtar got her big break with the song “Chalak Chalak” from the Bollywood movie “Devdas” starring Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit. The song became an instant hit and Shahnaz Akhtar gained nationwide recognition. She then went on to sing for several Bollywood movies including “Gangaajal”, “Apaharan”, and “Gangs of Wasseypur”.
Apart from Bollywood songs, Shahnaz Akhtar is also known for her devotional songs and has released several albums including “Maiyya Ki Chunari”, “Maa Ka Bulawa Aaya Hai”, and “Bhakti Ras”. She has also performed in several devotional events and shows across the country.
