Khalistan Supporter Amritpal Singh and his companions will remain in Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail but why are many notorious accused kept here?

TRENDING NEWS: Pro-Khalistan fugitive Amritpal Singh has been arrested by the Punjab Police on Sunday (23 April 2023) from Rode village in Moga district and now he and his associates have been kept in the British-era Dibrugarh Central Jail but now the question arises That is why most of the notorious accused are kept in Dibrugarh Central Jail, today we will try to tell you the same. Amritpal is lodged in Dibrugarh jail along with his nine associates Daljit Singh Kalsi, Papalpreet Singh, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Harjit Singh, Bhagwant Singh, Basant Singh and Gurinderpal Singh Aujla.

Special things of Dibrugarh Jail-

Dibrugarh Jail is a pre-independence prison and was built by the British to imprison freedom fighters. It was built by the British in 1859-60. It is one of the oldest and most secure prisons in the North Eastern region, made of concrete. This jail complex is spread over 15.54 acres of land and is surrounded by Black Cat commandos of Assam Police, CRPF and other security personnel. After independence, from ULFA militants to now Khalistan supporters have been kept in this jail. According to the report, this jail has not been broken even once in 170 years, hence it is considered one of the most secure jails in the country.

Language is also a reason for keeping in Dibrugarh Jail-

It is believed that the supporters of Khalistan are being kept in Assam jail so that their connection with their supporters is severed and where they are being kept, no major disturbances can happen because Amritpal Singh and his fellow Punjabis, Know Hindi and English language while Dibrugarh Jail is located in Assam and here Assamese language is mainly spoken and Amritpal Singh and his companions do not know Assamese language, then they will not be able to contact any other prisoners in the jail. If Amritpal and his associates were kept in a jail in Punjab, the law and order in the state could deteriorate and if they were kept in a jail in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra or Rajasthan, many of the prisoners here could speak and understand Punjabi. It would have been easy for Amritpal Singh and his supporters to disturb the law and order situation.
